Location: North Halifax Grammar School (NHGS)

Salary: MPR/ UPR + TLR2c £8,610 per annum

Reporting to: Headteacher & Strategic Leadership Group        

Contract Type: Permanent 0.8 - 1.0 FTE including a teaching commitment

You will work strategically with the leadership team to lead and develop outstanding provision for our SEND students from Years 7-13 and their families. With a strong knowledge of the current SEND landscape, you will liase with external agencies and local partnerships, using research-backed methodologies to promote excellent outcomes. As a highly effective teacher, you will model good practice and have a strong influence on the teaching and learning of students across the school. 

You will be supported by a Deputy Sendco, a SEND administrator and a friendly and capable team in our welcoming SEND provision area. Our school is a warm and friendly environment with academically ambitious students with a strong desire to succeed and a wide array of interests and talents. We place a strong emphasis on personal development and our academic curriculum is matched with a rich extra-curricular life.

The role will involve:

  • To champion inclusive excellence across the school, ensuring that all students - particularly those with SEND - receive high-quality, ambitious provision that enables them to achieve their full academic and personal potential.

  • To determine and drive the whole school strategic development of SEND policy, foster a culture of high aspirations, and serve as the school’s expert advisor on inclusive pedagogy.

  • To direct and develop the SEND team and facilities, supported by a Deputy SENDCo and SEND administrator

  • To lead on the co-ordination of specific provision to support individual students with SEN or a disability

  • Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents/carers and other agencies

  • To model excellence through whole class teaching
