Silsden Primary School is seeking to appoint an ambitious, dedicated and highly effective, non-class based Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Inclusion and SEND to join our Senior Leadership Team.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced leader to join our School, who is passionate about inclusion and ensuring that every child, regardless of need or background, is able to thrive, achieve and feel a strong sense of belonging within our school community.

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for Inclusion. This Leadership role will have responsibility for the outcomes and provision for our SEND and vulnerable pupils, and coordinate the pastoral support of all pupils across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic leadership of Inclusion across the school
  • Leading provision for pupils with SEND, disadvantaged pupils and vulnerable groups
  • Ensuring high-quality inclusive practice across all classrooms to improve outcomes for these groups.
  • Monitoring progress, provision and outcomes for pupils with additional needs
  • Working collaboratively with families, external agencies and professionals
  • Leading staff development to strengthen inclusive teaching, adaptive practice and impactful interventions
  • Contributing to whole-school improvement priorities as part of the Senior Leadership Team

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds the National Award for SEN Coordination or the National Professional Qualification for SENDCO
  • Is a SENDCO in your current school or setting with a minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience across more than one Key Stage.
  • Is committed to high standards, equity and inclusion for every child
  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner with strong leadership experience
  • Has strong communication and partnership skills with parents and external agencies
  • Can inspire, support and challenge staff to improve outcomes for all pupils
