Permanent Post, Band 5, SCP 5-6 (£13.26-13.47 per hour) 30 hours per week – Monday to Friday 11.30am to 5.30pm term time only plus 4 training days.

Starting Monday 5th January 2026 or possibly earlier if appropriate.

Vacancy Information

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Outstanding In All Areas 2-5-year-old early years inclusive school. At Strong Close Nursery School, we provide care and education for children, with a highly experienced staff team, as well as a designated Specialist Early Years Resourced Provision.

The right candidate will:

  • Have obtained the relevant Level 2 Diploma (not certificate) qualification in childcare and hold a paediatric first aid certificate in order to count in staff / child ratios (Training on First Aid can be provided where required and relevant).

  • Have an understanding of how to enable young children to learn, including those who have special educational needs and/or disabilities.

  • Act as a key person for children, liaise with parent/carers and maintain children’s records, observations and assessments on our electronic system.

  • Be able to work as a member of a team to support children and their families.
  • Have a strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and contribute to planning the curriculum.
  • Have experience of working with children aged 2-5 years.
  • Have an excitement and proactive, positive approach.
  • Have an excitement and proactive, positive approach to supporting children’s learning and development.

  • Provide and maintain stimulating learning environments for children both indoors and outdoors.

  • Have a commitment to providing the right support to the most vulnerable children by contributing to support plans.

  • Have substantial knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and how to plan for and extend children’s interests to enhance their learning.  

  • Help and support the children ensuring their safety, and that they have every opportunity to take full advantage of the learning opportunities provided in the school/centre. 

  • Ensure that their personal, social, physical, health and welfare needs are met.

  • Establish good relationships with the children and their families and act as a role model in responding to their needs in an appropriate manner.

  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all children and their families.

  • Help the children and their families to build good relationships and take advantage of the opportunities available in the school.

  • Help the children to develop independence and interdependence as appropriate.
