Literacy Specialist

Salary: Day rate of £350

An exciting opportunity for teachers with a passion for early language development and teaching phonics to share those skills and deliver support to local schools across Bradford and North Yorkshire. 

You will provide an intensive school to school support package including audits of early language development, reading and phonics provision in schools across the area. We are looking for applications from teachers and schools who would like to take on this role for 1 day a week, or 2-3 days per half term.

Burley and Woodhead CE Primary has been designated as one of 34 schools across the country to lead an English Hub. The Hub is responsible for promoting early language development, age-appropriate phonics provision and a love of reading in pupils. Over the past 7 years, we have supported many schools in Bradford, Richmondshire and Craven with phonics and early reading teaching.

You will:

  • Have excellent teaching skills in phonics as evidenced by internal/exernal/Ofsted observation
  • Be passionate about early reading and phonics and able to support other schools in developing their own practice
  • Be able to work collaboratively with the Burley Woodhead English Hub team
  • Have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and the confidence to lead presentations and showcase events
  • Be able to commit to the Hub support programme
