Safeguarding, Welfare and Inclusion Officer

Salary: Band 8 SCP 17-22 (Depending on Experience)

35 hours per week , Permanent

Woodside Academy is a two form entry primary school which is part of the Leading Learners Multi-Academy Trust.  We provide a supportive and stimulating place to work and study, where every child can reach their full potential. We welcome all parents to take an active part in their child’s education.  

We are seeking to appoint an experienced and motivated Safeguarding, Welfare and Inclusion Officer, who feels that they are able to make a real difference to the children here at Woodside Academy.  We are keen to hear from individuals who will support our aims and ethos and who will work as part of a friendly team, enabling individual children to reach their full potential.

Required skills:

  • Will remove barriers to learning using a range of strategies
  • Will work as part of a team, developing good relationships with children, staff, parents and partner agencies
  • Has the skills and understanding to support children with a variety of additional needs including social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Will actively support the ethos, vision and policies of the school
  • Can work flexibly with individual children from EYFS to Year 6
  • Will work 1:1 with children and with small groups of children during therapeutic and intervention work
  • Can fulfil the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding lead including attending meetings
  • Can plan and deliver small group interventions using knowledge of the children you will be supporting
  • Will have the ability to work closely with staff and agencies to continue to develop inclusion
  • Will be able to contribute to the design of individual plans outlining support for pupils with additional needs
  • Ability to support the SLT to oversee a pastoral team
  • Can support with improvement of attendance and punctuality
  • Is enthusiastic, flexible and has a sense of humour
  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Is a dynamic and creative team player, with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Is calm with a positive and confident manner
