Early Years and Family Support Practitioner
Hours:
Part time, one group per week.
This is equivalent to 2 hours contact time plus preparation
Salary: up to £30 per contact hour/£60 per week depending on qualifications and experience
Annual leave: 5.6 weeks per year including public holidays.

We are looking for a qualified teacher or early years professional to deliver our Early Development Groups and support our families.

We have 50 children with Down syndrome attending intervention sessions on a fortnightly basis. Children are grouped for age/abiltiy and we currently have 10 groups.

We are seeking a professional to deliver 2 of these groups.

Vacancy Information

We are looking for a qualified teacher or Early Years Professional to deliver our Early Development Groups and support our families.

Our Early Development Groups form the core of our early services and enable parents and carers to learn techniques to scaffold their child’s pre-school development, in a supportive and structured environment.

The groups are for up to five children with Down syndrome and their parent/carer and focus on developing a range of areas: fine and gross motor skills, communication skills, cognitive development and social and emotional awareness, and are carefully structured to support each child’s and parent’s learning.

We need someone who:

  • Is a qualified teacher or Early Years professional and has experience of working with infants and young children.
  • Has some experience and/or knowledge of working with children with special needs.
  • Is able to work with parents in a professional yet supportive manner.
  • Can liaise with other professionals and colleagues.
  • Is willing to attend training on working with children with Down syndrome.
