This is an exciting opportunity to build on strong foundations and work alongside dedicated staff, supportive governors, engaged families and wonderful children.

Guiseley Primary School is a vibrant and nurturing school of over 360 pupils aged 2 to 11 years. We are committed to ensuring every child feels safe, valued and inspired to achieve their full potential. Strong relationships, high expectations and a focus on both academic success and personal development enable our children to thrive.

Situated in the attractive town of Guiseley on the north-west edge of Leeds, we benefit from a supportive community and strong partnerships through the Aireborough Learning Partnership Trust. Our children are enthusiastic learners, and our committed staff continually strive to improve outcomes for all.

Ofsted (2023) confirmed Guiseley Primary School as a good school, describing it as a “happy and welcoming school” where pupils are proud to belong. Inspectors praised our ambitious curriculum, strong teaching, positive behaviour, inclusive culture, effective safeguarding and broad enrichment opportunities.

This is an exciting time to join the school as we continue our journey of improvement, including the implementation of mixed-age classes. We are looking for a leader who can successfully manage change while maintaining high standards and positive outcomes for children.

We are seeking a Headteacher who:

  • Demonstrates a clear vision for excellent primary education and can translate that vision into practice.
  • Is passionate about delivering an ambitious, inclusive and engaging curriculum that enables all children to achieve.
  • Has a deep commitment to inclusion and ensuring that pupils with SEND, disadvantaged pupils and vulnerable learners thrive.
  • Can inspire, develop and empower staff at all stages of their careers.
  • Understands the importance of staff wellbeing alongside high professional expectations.
  • Has the skills to lead organisational change effectively and sensitively.
  • Can use data, evidence and innovation to secure continuous improvement.
  • Understands how technology can enhance learning, improve operational effectiveness and prepare pupils for life in a rapidly changing world.
  • Has strong financial and organisational leadership skills and can ensure resources are used effectively to maximise opportunities for pupils.
  • Values collaboration and can work successfully within a Trust while championing the unique identity of our school.
  • Will strengthen partnerships with parents, carers and the wider community to enhance opportunities for children.

We can offer the successful candidate:

  • A well-established school with a strong reputation and clear values.
  • Happy, caring and enthusiastic children who are proud of their school.
  • A talented, skilled and dedicated staff team committed to achieving the best outcomes for pupils.
  • A governing body that offers both support and constructive challenge.
  • Strong collaboration and professional networks through the Aireborough Learning Partnership Trust.
  • A positive, inclusive school culture with high expectations and strong foundations.
  • The opportunity to shape the strategic direction of the school at a pivotal point in its development.
  • Ongoing professional development and leadership support.
