Vacancy Information

Based in Year 6, you will play a key role in ensuring continuity of learning across the school. Working under the guidance of senior staff and class teachers you will:

  • Supervise and support whole classes during short-term teacher absence, maintaining high standards of behaviour and engagement.

  • Deliver agreed work programmes and learning activities, adapting resources to meet pupil needs.

  • Confidently prepare resources, follow planning, teach engaging lessons and transfer feedback to the class teacher.

  • Support pupils with SEND and those needing additional care, following Individual Education Plans and personal care programmes where required.

  • Undertake routine marking, record pupil progress, invigilate assessments and contribute to classroom administration.

  • Support pupils’ personal development through positive reinforcement, promoting inclusion and respect for diversity.

  • Occasionally supervise pupils before/after school, at lunchtimes and on visits or trips.

This role will require sensitivity to safeguarding concerns, a willingness to support pupils with a range of needs, and a readiness to contribute positively to our school ethos.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working with primary-aged pupils and can build strong, respectful relationships with young people and colleagues.

  • Has experience working in a school, delivering pre- planned lessons across Key Stage Two classrooms or similar setting and can manage whole-class supervision with confidence.

  • Demonstrates excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

  • Is calm under pressure, flexible, and able to use initiative within agreed school procedures.

  • Has good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills and can support learning in a range of subjects through good subject knowledge.

  • Is committed to inclusion, equality and safeguarding and can work effectively alongside teachers, teaching assistants and external professionals.

  • Can demonstrate fluency in English to the Intermediate Threshold Level (required by the Immigration Act 2016).
