Burley Woodhead English Hub Literacy Specialists

Post initially to 31 August 2027 (The Hub is funded by the Department for Education and is dependent on annual grant renewal. The Hub has been running since September 2018).

Teachers in EYFS/KS1 with a passion for early language development and teaching phonics

Teachers in KS2 with a passion for phonics and reading fluency

Teachers in KS3 with a passion to improve literacy and raise standards for all secondary pupils

Join the Burley Woodhead English Hub team and share your skills to deliver support and training to local primary and secondary schools across Bradford and North Yorkshire.

Vacancy Information

Supported by our existing team, you will provide an intensive schoolto school support package including audits of existing provision,training and resource funding. We are looking for applications from teachers and their schools who would like to take on this role for one day a week.

Your own school will benefit from high quality and sustained supporting embedding teaching for Literacy and by growing the leadership capacity in their staff. Literacy Specialists receive national training via the DfE English Hub network and individual SSPs.

Burley and Woodhead CE Primary is one of 34 schools across the country designated to lead an English Hub by the DfE. The Hub is responsible for promoting early language development, age appropriate phonics provision and a love ofreading in pupils. The remitis now extending to cover phonics and fluency in KS2 and to provide catch up provision and strengthen reading culture in KS3.

You will:

  • Have excellent teaching skills as evidenced by internal/exernal/Ofsted observation
  • Be passionate about reading, phonics and able to support other schools in developing their own practice
  • Be able to work collaboratively with the Burley Woodhead English Hub team
  • Have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and the confidence to lead presentations and showcase events
  • Be able to commit to the Hub support programme
