The Governors, Staff and Parents of The Lilycroft and St Edmund’s Nursery Schools’ Federation are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and capable Kitchen Assistant/Cook to join our kitchen team at St Edmund’s Nursery School.
As a Kitchen Assistant/Cook, you will work as part of the St Edmund’s kitchen team, supporting the Kitchen Manager and Senior Kitchen Assistant to prepare and serve healthy, nutritious meals (breakfast, lunch, and tea) made from scratch.
You will demonstrate the confidence, skills, and ability to work independently in the kitchen when required, ensuring that all food hygiene, health, and safety procedures are strictly adhered to at all times.
A key responsibility of this role is to independently cover the teatime period from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. During this time, you will:
- Prepare tea for the children
- Set up tables and chairs prior to service
- Clean and clear tables after the meal
- Wash up and ensure the kitchen is left clean and tidy
The successful applicant will have:
- NVQ 1 and 2 in catering and hospitality or equivalent but consideration will be given to candidates with skills, knowledge and experience
- Food and Safety Hygiene Certificate or willingness to complete training
- Experience in all aspects of food preparation.
- High standard of hygiene and an understanding of health, hygiene and safety procedures in a working kitchen
- Ability to work within a team as well as working alone
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Excellent organisations skills and ability to work under pressure
