Woodside Academy is a two form entry primary school which is part of the Leading Learners Multi-Academy Trust. We provide a supportive and stimulating place to work and study, where every child can reach their full potential. We welcome all parents to take an active part in their child’s education. 

We are looking for an experienced and motivated support assistant to join our team and support pupils with SEND. We are keen to hear from individuals who will support our aims and ethos and enable pupils to reach their full potential.

Required skills:

  • Have experience of working with pupils with SEND; particularly multi-sensory impairment and physical needs.
  • Have GCSE Maths and English grade A - C (or equivalent).

  • To be able to provide specific support (recommended by specialist teams and identified in the pupils EHCP) to pupils ensuring appropriate support for individual planned needs.
  • To be able to assist with personal care needs which will include social, health, hygiene and welfare matters, (including transfers between equipment, toileting, feeding and possible medication) and to carry out moving and handling transfers to support pupils access to the classroom and curriculum.
  • To be able to work in a multi-disciplinary team in planning and assessing needs and implanting recommendations made by specialist staff.
  • To undertake specific training delivered by specialist staff in order to meet medical, physical and sensory needs.
  • To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.
  • To maintain a high level of professionalism at all times in line with the Staff Code of Conduct.
  • To have effective communication skills.
  • To be understanding, calm and supportive.
  • Will promote high standards and expectations in all areas.
  • Is an excellent team player with a positive outlook and a good sense of humour.
