POST TITLE: Resourced Provisions Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA). 
GRADE: Band 8 Scale points 17-22 (pro rata)
TTO + 5 days (39 weeks) 35 hours per week (this can be flexible)

Bradford Council is continuing to expand the provision it makes for children and young people with SEND across Bradford District. We have established a number of Specialist Resourced Provisions co-located in mainstream schools with places for children and young people with Communication and Interaction Needs (including Autism) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH).

We are seeking to recruit a number of exceptional, experienced Communication and Interaction and SEMH HLTAs to support our children and young people in these resourced provisions based in primary and secondary schools across the district.

The staff in the Resourced Provisions team are centrally employed by Bradford Council Childrens’ Services and deployed to the provision based on their experience, skills, knowledge and expertise.  

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate. Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

The successful candidate would have:

  • Accreditation as an HLTA; HLTA status or relevant level 3 qualifications or equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years experience of working within an educational setting with pupils with SEND particularly ASD and/or SEMH, with an age range of children appropriate to the role i.e. statutory school age.
  • Experience of the EHCP process including supporting with the annual review process and planning activities to meet the needs and outcomes of children with an EHCP with the needs of communication and interaction including autism and/or SEMH.
  • Experience of assessment, planning, preparation and delivering learning
  • Experience of supporting and delivering interventions or programmes of work for pupils with communication and interaction needs and/or SEMH
