Vacancy Information

The Education Safeguarding team are responsible for having regard to the welfare and whereabouts of every school age child in the district. The aim of this team is to work collaboratively with Council teams and wider agencies to provide a co-ordinated approach to the well-being of children and young people, to ensure they have the support they need to be healthy, stay safe and enjoy and achieve.

We are looking to recruit a 0.5 FTE Attendance Lead Officer who will share leadership of the Attendance and Prosecution Team.  The Attendance Team offers a traded service of attendance support to schools across the district alongside delivering Local Authority statutory responsibilities in respect of attendance, with a specific focus on pupils who have increased vulnerabilities.

The post holder is responsible for:

  • Ensuring every pupil has access to full-time education to which they are entitled, and lead on statutory responsibilities around Attendance for the district
  • Reducing persistent absence; ensure action is taken early to address patterns of absence
  • Manage a team of Attendance and Penalty Notice Officers, including managing the traded offer of Attendance support to schools

The team is based in the very heart of Bradford, in newly refurbished accommodation with dedicated desk space and meeting rooms. It has good ICT facilities with office based and remote access to electronic files, e-mail and internet.  Bradford itself is easily accessible from neighboring local authorities and offers great outdoor opportunities in the nearby Dales and surrounding areas.
