Education and Learning – Special Educational Needs

Exciting new opportunities to make a difference to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities across the Bradford District.

Bradford Council has established some provision for children and young people with SEND across Bradford District through the Local Authority led Specialist Resourced Provisions to meet the needs of CYP with Communication and Interaction needs and Autism and Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs We are looking to expand these provisions further in 2020.

As a result we are seeking to recruit a number of exceptional, experienced Communication and Interaction (including Autism) and SEMH Learning Support Assistants   to support our children and young people in the new resourced provisions based in primary and secondary schools across the district.

The staff in the resourced provisions teams will be centrally employed by Bradford Council Childrens’ Services subject to their terms and conditions and deployed to the provisions, which will be co-located in mainstream schools across the district.

The successful SEND Learning Support Assistants will be comfortable and experienced working with pupils who have Communication and Interaction needs including Autism and/or SEMH needs and will be able to effectively support learning across the primary age range or the secondary age range.

Above all, we are looking to find the ‘right' person who will become a valued part of the Resourced Provision and the school community which hosts the provision  making this an excellent opportunity to gain experience as an SEND Learning  Assistant in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Hours: 30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Salary/Grade: Band 6 scale points 6-10 FTE £19,171 to £20,751.  (Actual salary pro-rata)

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.
