Human Resources Manager

We are looking for a self-motivated and highly skilled professional to manage the HR function for the 200 staff who work in our school. The ideal candidate will be well organised with excellent interpersonal skills and proven generalist HR experience.

  • 37 hours per week, term time + two weeks (40 weeks per year)
  • Mon – Thurs: 8.00am to 4.00pm, Fri 8.00am to 3.30pm (with a half-hour unpaid lunch break)
  • Salary level: SCP 26-32, (starting pay dependant on qualifications and experience)
  • Actual Salary £27,101 - £31,813 (FTE £30,451 - £35,745)

We can offer you the opportunity to work with friendly and supportive staff in an interesting and varied role, ranging from carrying out day-to-day administrative processes through to managing a diverse range of HR issues. You will have strong communication skills and will be a key point of contact for all staff throughout the school for advice and guidance on operational HR matters.

Our school was rated “good” in our most recent OFSTED inspection and their report confirmed ‘pupils do indeed “belong, grow and succeed” as stated in the school motto’.

The role and responsibilities include:

  • Responsibility for providing an effective Human Resources provision; including recruitment and induction, absence management, health, safety and wellbeing of staff and dealing with a range of Human Resource issues.

The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:

  • Minimum standard of GCSE (grade A*- C) or equivalent, in English and Maths
  • CIPD qualification at intermediate level (or significant relevant equivalent experience)
  • Evidence of successful recent experience of providing HR services at a professional level
  • Fully conversant and up to date with all aspects of employment law and best practice including an awareness of Safer recruitment regulations
  • Evidence of effective leadership and line-management of staff
  • Previous experience and knowledge of Health & Safety issues, including risk assessment processes
  • Experience of organising meetings and accurate minute taking
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and to tight deadlines, be proactive and self-motivated, understanding priorities and managing workload effectively
  • Excellent ICT skills and organisation skills, with the ability to work to a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability and knowledge to analyse staffing information and produce appropriate reports
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the demands of the role
