Management Accountant and Internal Auditor

Hours:  37 hours per week, all year round, although flexibility to work term time is possible

Grade:  PO5-8, NJC spinal column points 31 to 34

Salary:  £33, 799 to £36, 876 per annum (pro-rated if term time working)

We are looking for an outstanding individual with a successful and proven track record in management accounts and internal audit to work across our Trust schools (2 sites) for this new and exciting role within a Calderdale based Multi Academy Trust (MAT).

This is a superb role offering the opportunity for an ambitious person with drive and determination to take ownership and develop the role with the full support of a fantastic senior management team. Previous experience in the education sector would be advantageous.  The opportunity to work term time is available should you wish to apply on that basis. The main responsibilities of this position are to support the management of the financial performance of the trust and to promote further awareness to the senior leadership teams, ensuring compliance within the financial control frameworks for academies and multi academy trusts.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, duties will include:

  • Monthly VAT Reporting
  • Month end accounts preparation
  • Reporting to tight deadlines
  • Asset and stock reconciliations
  • Prepayments and accruals
  • Fixed asset register maintenance and reporting
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Inter academy reconciliation and postings
  • Provide commentary on month end/year end position
  • Supporting the FD in the budget and re-forecast process
  • Develop/improve budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Develop and continuously evaluate internal controls, identifying solutions and revised controls
  • Maintain Business & Financial Controls Framework
  • Design project plans, including schedules, timescales, resources, budget and personnel, reporting to Finance Director on all projects
  • Maintain reliance strategy with the external auditor and develop relationships with business partners
